Mission Trip: Plaquemines Parish

Monday, Dec. 29, 2008 -Friday, Jan. 2, 2009
Cost:
$20.00 deposit per person to sign up
Goal:
Rebuild homes lost in Katrina
Who Can go:
Minimum age 15 with parental permission
Skills Needed:
Roofing, drywall, painting helpful,
but not required.
We will work with the Committee for Plaquemines Rebuild (CPR).
Transportation and meals will be decided when the team is formed.

This year’s VBS was a great success with over 300 preschool and children attending. Over 100 adults and students volunteered for every position. Our closing program, Thursday night, August 7th saw a full house. The children sang songs from their week and a slide show was presented which encapsulated all of the activities.

Dear Virginia Baptist Disaster Relief Volunteers: Many of you have been following the news of flooding in the Midwest. And, many have asked about needs and opportunities to help with these needs. With flooding, the time for “the masses” to help with clean up recovery efforts comes later, after the waters have receded and things begin to dry. This time is now at hand. Teams of volunteers are now needed to help!

Examples of current needs can be seen below. If you are able to recruit a team and/or go personally to help during either of the next two weeks, please contact our office (phone number below). You can speak with Jeannette Hildebrand, Nichole Bulls or myself. We will be happy to contact our colleagues in the affected states and make arrangements for your service.
